Jodie Comer – “Underappreciated British Star“

Such a talented star…

She loves Bruce Springsteen

Jodie Comer is a British actress from England. She is one of the best actresses that became known and loved lately. However, I don’t think that she gets the appreciation and attention she deserves.

I knew her from the role she played at in 2013. It is one of the major roles that she played. Before that, she had only roles as a guest star.

After this series, she started to take lead roles. You may know her from;

  • Doctor Foster: A Woman Scorned 2015-2017
  • The White Princess 2017
  • Killing Eve 2018-2022
  • Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker 2019
  • Free Guy 2021
  • The Last Duel 2021

Although I love to watch her in any role, I have to talk about Killing Eve specifically. She deserves all the awards just for the role of  Oksana Astankova / Villanelle 😍

Killing Eve is the British black comedy-drama spy thriller. While talking about it, I also have to appreciate the genius Phoebe Waller-Bridge. She deserves her own post 🙌

Jodie met Phoebe at first time when they were drunk😁 When Phoebe won the award for Fleabag, they met at the after party. According to Jodie, She couldn’t really remember everything that was said. Regardless of what was said, this meeting was one of the milestones in her life.

Jodie has received critical acclaim and won numerous awards for her portrayal as the psychopathic assassin, taking home the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series and the British Academy Television Award for Best Actress.

The way she perform psychopathic Villanelle , she makes us questioning that we admire a killer psychopath so much. Once you watch it, you will understand 😄 We can easily say that Villanelle was the turning point of her career. She performed perfect accents as well as amazing facial expressions that makes Villanelle more special.

I would love to see more collaboration of Jodie and Phoebe, two British goddess ❤

Her last role work was a National Theatre Live: Prima Facie. I didn’t have a chance to watch but I read reviews that says ne of the best individual performances they have ever seen. Are we surprised? No.

But, British actors always reach “the international recognition and popularity” later than Hollywood actors. Although I personally find British actors much more successful, The influence on the world-class TV and movie industry of Hollywood is undeniable. Hollywood actors will be completed when they get their “Walk of Fame Stars”. They literally make an opening for a star on the street in Hollywood. It is all about famousness and advertisement.

Most of the best drama schools in the world are in UK. It has a strong actor training industry that produces a lot of high-quality, versatile actors. Although it used to be more within Europe, English actors are now taking over Hollywood.

Of course drama school is not and only requirement, Jodie Comer proves that 😎

Hope to watch you more, Jodie !
